Notes: Eurocode 3 - Density of Steel

Steel's density can vary slightly depending on the specific type and alloy composition, but a common approximation is around 7.85 grams per cubic centimetre (g/cm³) or 7850 kilograms per cubic meter (kg/m³), or approximately 490 pounds per square foot when you consider imperial systems. The respective unit weight is 78.5 kilonewtons per cubic meter (kN/m³).

According to Eurocode 3 (EN 1991-1-1, Annex A), the typical unit weight of structural steel is between 77.0 and 78.5 kN/m³. This value is commonly used in engineering calculations and design work for steel structures across Europe.
